The Eastport Arts Center’s KinderArts session for March will be led by artist and educator Fern Hilyard. The free program, held on Thursdays, March 8, 15 and 29 from 9:30-10:15 am, is designed to encourage young children to explore the visual and performing arts in a secure and social environment through hands-on experiences. Children up to age 5 are welcome to attend, but must come with a caregiver.
Hilyard has pursued teaching special and gifted students in core subjects including art and writing over the past 20 years.
Eastport Arts Center’s International Dance group will hail the new year with the addition of a second weekly meeting, and starting January 2 will meet both Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6 pm at the center. The group is open to everyone, including beginners, and features traditional dance from Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Israel.Find out more »
Fresh from Maine Drama Festival competition, the Washington Academy drama club will present a one act play at Eastport Arts Center on Thursday, March 15 at 6:30 pm. Directed by James Ausprey, the group will present Barton Bishop’s “Things Fall (Meanwhile)” with cast members Maggie Hood, Madelyn Gardner, Hailey Boutin, Kate Somes, Gabriella Mendoza, Sam Somes, Ryan Conley, Jude Zanoni, Devyn Seeley, Rosemary Corkins, Nathan Carver, Vivian Noakes, Ayden Lamoureux, Willow Garrison, Ian Squire and Karli Williams. Ausprey describes the comedy/drama as “a unique tale of intersecting lives,” including a musical prodigy, a street performer and a hiker, and mentions, “it should be thought provoking.” The performance will be by $3 suggested donation, and proceeds will benefit the school.Find out more »
