The Sunday Afternoons at the EAC series, a winter offering of informal and interactive programs every Sunday at 3 pm at Eastport Arts Center, will feature the Shead High School music program on March 4. Both the pep band and the jazz band will perform, and with their teacher, Robert Sanchez, will participate in a discussion about music. “They’re a dynamic group with many tastes and influences that come together to create, arrange and have fun,” noted Sanchez. Student performers will include Maleeka Barnes, Sarah Bartlett, Jacob Cook, Rebecca Johnston, Luke Lane, John Henry and George Mills, Johnathan Sutton and Devon Wilder. Possibly middle schoolers Louisa Calame, Dana Mahar and Cora Sanchez will also participate; Sanchez mentions that he sometimes recruits these musicians to play at the school’s basketball games.
