Allow your child the joy of spending February school vacation week snowshoeing and skiing on trails, building winter shelters, indoor rock climbing, geocaching on snow, learning about winter ecology, and more! Cost for the 4-day program is $80 although scholarships are available based on financial need. Military personnel receive a 20% discount. Maximum enrollment is 12 youth and preregistration is required online.

The Paper Orchestra program, led by Alice St. Clair, director of Eastport Strings, will be the Eastport Arts Center’s KinderArts offering for February. The hands-on program is designed to engage younger children in the magic of music making, and will introduce stringed instruments and include singing, movement and crafting with the help of caregivers. The creativity based curriculum will help children begin to find their musical voice while starting the process of being instrument-ready.
KinderArts programs are free and intended for children up to age 5; participants must come with a parent or caregiver.

Lino Block Printmaking is a simple technique that involves carving a soft linoleum surface, then applying ink and printing your image. You can make simple greeting cards, print on fabric or create elaborate artwork using this technique. This course can be a refresher, or for beginners. You will be introduced to the skills needed to continue printmaking at home, or act as the first step in further explorations. You will learn simple techniques to cut and print a small B&W image. Eastport Arts Center’s International Dance group will hail the new year with the addition of a second weekly meeting, and starting January 2 will meet both Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6 pm at the center. The group is open to everyone, including beginners, and features traditional dance from Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Israel.
