The St. Andrews Film Society Presents: A Man Called Ove (2015)

February 18 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
W.C. O’Neill Arena Theatre, St. Andrews, ME United States

Based on the best-selling international novel, this drama-comedy tells the story of 59-year old Ove, the quintessential angry old man next door. An isolated retiree with strict principles and a short fuse, he spends his days enforcing block association rules that only he cares about, and visiting his wife's grave. Ove had given up on life, when a boisterous young family moves into the terraced house opposite and accidentally backs into Ove's mailbox. Yet from this inauspicious beginning, an unlikely friendship forms and we come to understand Ove's past happiness and heartbreaks. What emerges, is a heartwarming tale of unreliable first impressions and the gentle reminder that life is sweeter when it's shared. (Sweden., 116 min., 2015, rated PG-13).
