Ecstatic Dance is returning to the Eastport Arts Center to every Wednesday from 5-6 pm, starting January 3. All are invited to come and dance to great rhythmic music and move however they wish (there will be no instruction); the group’s motto will be: “dance to release stress, and not to impress.” Attendees should wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring water to drink. Cold Weather – Warm Water – Songs for Sailing from Cold Ports to Warm Seas

The Pembroke Library will hold its first Chantey Sing of the New Year on Wednesday evening, January 17th. Machiasport’s Jim Sherman (guitar, dulcimer) will join Pembroke’s Kris Paprocki (fiddle, button accordion, banjo, guitar) in a sing-along concert of traditional songs of sea, shore, and woods, from the frozen lumbering camps of northern Maine, to the tropical isles of the Pacific. The January 17th concert starts at 6:30 PM. It will be held at the fully handicap accessible Pembroke Library, 221 Old County Road, Pembroke, Maine - - - opposite the horse track and fair grounds.
