    Ingersoll Point Preserve in Addison consists of just under 3.5 miles of intersecting trails that travel along the rocky shore and cut across a lush, green forest carpeted with moss, lichen and other plant species.     What’s in Jim’s Ditty Bag? You’ll find out at the Pembroke Library on Wednesday, April 19th, when U.S. Coast Guard veteran Jim Sherman loosens the drawstring, revealing songs and stories of the sea, the shore, and “elsewhere.” There are likely to be old chanteys, a few ballads, a comical ditty or two, and a salty story, as well as a guitar, a 12-string, and a mountain dulcimer - - which Jim has actually played at sea, under sail.

  • Soils and Gardens Class

    Mark Fulford, well-know teacher on soils and gardens, and a farm consultant, will be teaching a class in the Lecture Hall at WCCC in Calais. Mark is from Monroe, Maine, and travels extensively to learn different ways of growing plants, and to share that knowledge with others. He teaches that improving the health of the soil improves the health of the plants, which improves the health of the people who eat them.

  • Green Burial Film to be Screened

    A Will for the Woods, an award-winning documentary film about green burial, will be screened on Friday, May 5, at 6 p.m. at the Cobscook Community Learning Center Commons building in Trescott. Down East Hospice Volunteers and Community Health and Counseling Services are hosting the event. The documentary film follows musician, psychiatrist, and folk dancer Clark Wang as he prepares for his own green burial.

  • Benny’s Mountain Bird Walk

    Join Maine Coast Heritage Trust steward Melissa Lee and expert birder Woody Gillies of Fundy Audubon for a morning of birding at Hamilton Cove Preserve in Lubec. This walk is for birders of all ages and levels of experience. We will meet at the Hamilton Cove parking lot at 8 am on Saturday May 13 and walk 1 mile to the summit of Benny’s Mountain.

  • Weekend Workshop – Still Life Painting with Oils
