The History of “The Airline”

October 20 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

On Friday, October 20th, DLLT welcomes local historian John Dudley for a presentation about the history of “The Airline,” or Route 9.  An infamous road in the state of Maine, Route 9 has many tall tales, legends, and local stories that add to its folklore.  From its early days to more recent improvements, Mr. Dudley will discuss the importance of this rural highway to Washington County.  A long-time resident of Alexander, Dudley has a deep knowledge of this road and the stories it has to tell.  The presentation will begin at 6 pm in the Grand Lake Stream School Building.  For more information, please call DLLT at (207) 796 – 2100, or email cbrown@downeastlakes.org.
