Lulu, Cora and Siobhan present: Neither Rhyme Nor Rosin, a violin recital
March 17 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
A youth string recital has been planned by local violinists, Cora Sanchez, Lulu Calame, and Siobhan Duffy, for Saturday, March 17 at 3 pm. Calame notes that the program, “will go down in history as the greatest demonstration of a group of young people playing an assortment of stringed instruments in the history of the Eastport Arts Center.” The program will feature the Bach Double and pieces by Fiocco, Corelli and Beethoven. Of her fellow players, Calame writes, “Siobhan is zesty. What more could one say? She is one of those people who probably spends her free time teaching tai chi to her pet chameleon… who knows? She was born in the year of the monkey, and, as you will observe, is a strikingly skilled musician. Cora is someone who approaches life with a bang. She has played violin for a very large period of time. If she were a few years older, Cora would probably have a Ph.D. in Marine Biology, and she was born in the year of the dog.” About herself, Lulu admits, “Lulu wishes she were born in the year of the rabbit, but she was unfortunately born in the year of the rooster, much to her utter dismay. Lulu has played violin for a number of years. She spends her spare time listening to bad pop music, and contemplating the absurdity of human nature.” The musicians met and honed their skills while participating in EAC’s Eastport Strings program.
The recital is by suggested donation of $5/person. The Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport and is handicapped accessible. Please visit eastportartscenter.org to learn more.
