An event every week that begins at 4:30pm on Tuesday and Thursday, repeating until May 29, 2018
Eastport Arts Center’s International Dance group will hail the new year with the addition of a second weekly meeting, and starting January 2 will meet both Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6 pm at the center. The group is open to everyone, including beginners, and features traditional dance from Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Israel.
“I can’t begin to tell you what joy there is in dancing to this gorgeous and interesting music,” said the group’s teacher, Dovie Gaither, a veteran of more than 25 years of dance camps who first discovered international dance at a weekly group in Tulsa. “It took me at least two years of reading about it in the church bulletin before I actually got up my nerve to go. As soon as I heard the music I was captivated. Even now, it is the music that is so captivating. The dance is what makes it a community event.”
