What to Bring
Your own paper and art materials! (Large sheets of newsprint are often used for gesture drawing, as they are affordable.) Several mid-sized art boards will be available for those who would like them, but please feel free to bring your own.
As these are uninstructed sessions, I’d like to provide some resources for those who are new to this! Christ Warner, of Otis College of Art and Design, has a YouTube video explaining how he approaches gesture drawing. Also of interest, may be the animator’s technique of “drawing the bean,” which is which is explained by Proko in this YouTube video.
I will have some figure drawing books available, which you are welcome to peruse during the break, and reference during the sessions, if desired. There will be a handout for the Seven Basic Folds sessions, so please email me if you’d like to receive it.
I look forward to drawing with you this summer!
