Concert Series presents Aaron Larget-Caplan, guitarist: ‘Landscapes, Meditations & Dances’

August 10, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Eastport Arts Center’s concert series continues at 7 pm on Friday, August 10 with guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan, who’ll present a program titled ‘Landscapes, Meditations and Dances.’ From Spanish and Contemporary dances to fugues and lyrical meditations, guitar virtuoso Larget-Caplan presents an action-packed concert of music that pushes the boundaries of what can be done on the guitar. Featuring music from India, Japan, Russia, Europe and the United States, Larget-Caplan will perform music by Bach, Mussorgsky, Albéniz, Keigo Fujii, and premiere new works by Alan Hovhaness (Massachusetts), Vineet Shende (Maine), Koji Nakano (Japan), and Roger Eon (France).  In addition, Larget-Caplan will be joined by local guitarist Tim Pence for a premiere by John Cage arranged by Aaron for two guitars. A reception sponsored by Dastardly Dick’s Wicked Good Coffee will follow the concert.

Noted for his “astounding technical proficiency and artistic delicacy” by the Boston Musical Intelligencer, Larget-Caplan is a recording and touring guitarist who performs solo and chamber music throughout Europe, Russia and the USA. A sought-after instrumentalist, he has premiered over 80 compositions by a wide range of composers, arranged works by the likes of Bach, Schubert, Albéniz, Rodrigo and Reynaldo Hahn. His arrangements of John Cage for guitar are published by Edition Peters, and are the first official arrangements for the instrument. Larget-Caplan’s recordings are available on Albany, Navona and Stone Records. He currently serves on the faculty at the University of Massachusetts Boston. More information about Larget-Caplan can be found at

Subsequent concerts in EAC’s concert series are: August 24, Mira Gill, piano; and August 31, Annual Young Persons Concert. Concert Series tickets are $10, with attendees 17 and under admitted free of charge with the exception of the Young Persons show, for which tickets are just $5.
