Registration Deadline: March 3, 2018

Take a course this Spring and learn about the magic, fun and stories associated with folk art and how to express them in a work of art. Learn to tell a story in a painting – then tell the story.

Beginners to experts – this is a different way of thinking and musing. Course paintings will be acrylic on canvas. Great drawing skills are not necessary but a sense of humour is. This is not your typical folk art.

Each participant will have an opportunity to create as many cats and dogs as they want – we will start with painting a cat, or cats on a 16 x 24 canvas with acrylic paints. Images can be sketched with crayons, pen or chalk as well.

The first lesson will deal with examples of folk art and the different styles, stories and messages. Once we have discovered your style we will portray that story on canvas – each painting will also have a little story to go with it and this will be a group effort for each painting.

Whether you can draw or paint or have never had the calling this course is a fun, creative extension of what makes you smile.
