9th Annual Festival of Trees

December 8, 2018 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

The Eastport Arts Center’s 9th Annual Festival of Trees, a silent auction of lovingly decorated table-top trees which benefits the center’s programming, will take place on Saturday, December 8 from 4:30-5:30 pm. There are two ways for those interested to participate: first is to sign up for one of the 6 slots left to decorate one of 25 trees to be auctioned. Many decorators have such fun they come back year after year. The arts center provides the 24” table-top trees, and a gravel-filled can to hold them upright. Decorators let their creativity loose, add a 20-light string of mini-lights and produce some amazing and tempting trees. Second is to wander through the magical forest of sparkling trees while nibbling festive treats passed by Girl Scout Troop 1981 from Perry and enjoy live music played by arts center enthusiasts Wren Fraser and Siobhan Duffy. This is when the silent bids are filled in by those dreaming of one of these delightful trees in their home: perhaps Hogwarts Enchanted Holiday or the Advent Calendar Tree, Sweet and Long, the Angels sing, the Music for Children Tree, The Garcicle Tree,  Surprise Française or Rocky.

Among participants already signed up are The French Club, ArtsBloom, The Little Water Street Gang, Peavey Library,  Alberta Hunter, Catherine Lee, Kendall Farm Cottages,  David Oja, Jenie Smith, Manuela Brice, Jana Sunderland, Dawn and Tom Hellier,Jim Riccio, Moose Island Bakery, Helen Swallow and members of the PBSO, Kris Smith and Susan Weaver, Rachel Boyce, and Seaside Stones.

This holiday highlight auction keeps the lights burning with programming to brighten the long Eastport winter. It has been said that some who go away in the winter are sorry they miss this festive event. The Eastport Arts Center is at 36 Washington Street, Eastport and is handicapped-accessible. For more information please email or call the arts center at (207) 853-4650.
